As more and more of our customers are brushing the cobwebs off their skis and boards, we move further into our 5th season with the standard improving in each discipline. We have notced a slight decline in Wakesurf bookings as Members and Non Members alike get back to riding more, hitting the rails in the lake and skiing into personal bests. A notable PB goes to Mark Smith who ran into 12 metres at 55kph. Thanks this month go to Jon Wilkinson for his help with some fin adjustments for some of our slalom customers and also to Dan Jordan who put on his first Wake clinic, which was well attended. Dan will be hosting some more clinics over the Summer to fit around the ever increasing competition schedule. We notice this month that there is definately a devoted wake skate fraternity. A crowd pleaser none the less as a number of riders attempt a 'boneless' start from the dock, with some amusing falls following from that. The weather still needs to get more consistent but we all know that so we'll not dwell on the fact that we live in a country that is so diverse when it comes to what we can expect out on the water. We have introduced a new rail this month aswell. Geared towards the regular riders more so but nevertheless if you have got your toe side approach down, it can be just as rewarding. 30ft long and nice and stable it also gives the benefits to those getting into their rail riding. Plans are in place to add an exact replica for the goofy riders in a few weeks time. As we get ready to host the All Regions competition in June we have been putting in some hours to renovate the jump ramp and make sure its fit for purpose and back in the lake in time for some practise sessions. Happy skiing and look forward to seeing you soon. TEN-80 |

After a fantastic turn out for the Opening Party, the season has started well with the lake warming up a fair bit. Some skiers and riders are even into their 3mm summer suits. Its a sign! We have now started to get more of our Summer stock into the Pro Shop which will also soon be online for your convenience. This year we have changed brands and are now stocking Liquid Force, Obrien, Straightline, VANS, and Bern amongst many others. We have also now taken delivery of Goodwood wakeskates. TEN-80 have this month agreed to host the All Regions national competition on the 7th and 8th of June. The weekend is looking like it will be pretty well attended, with skiers coming from the 11 regions of the country. The event has three competing disciplines being Slalom, Trick and Jump. For those of you who have not been to such an event it might be worth coming down to watch. There is bound to be some sort of party in the clubhouse on the Saturday night anyway. We would like to take this oportunity to mention a couple of people who have really got going this season and have improved even since the season has been fully open. Firstly Dan Daly who is one of our slalom skiers. With determination and braving all weather conditions he has really got his teeth into running further and further into the slalom course. Even after a token cuppa tea! Secondly we have Andy Skinner who has started throwing inverts on his board and he also landed a 'boneless' start on his skate on only the second attempt. Beginners luck? Not really sure but he made it look pretty sweet. Mark Smith should be commended on spinning his first 360 while out wakesurfing. Was it on video?? No! Which technically means he may not have nailed it but lets just assume he has. nice one mate! We started off the 'Clinics' this month with a guest appearance from Danno Jordan who on his first set in 6 months pulled the biggest Air Raley you did ever see and then followed on by comfortably riding out all the rails and throwing a massive signature 'Tantrum' off the double up to the amazement of the boat crew! The guy is on fire and will be giving you all his technical knowledge in the next clinic which we will be sorting soon. As we get into May, we look forward to the first Bank Holiday of the Summer season on the 5th. As ever we hope for a hot one! Bookings are getting harder to get, so can we urge you to give us a call or book in, to avoid disappointment. See you when you come down. TEN-80 |

As we nudge ever closer to the start of the summer season, the water is getting slightly warmer and the lake conditions are improving. We have had a good response to our winter skiing program with many of our regulars taking up and mastering the wakesurf craze that is sweeping the country. A notable improvement goes to Sam Stevens who has braved the cold in an oversized drysuit to get to grips with the basics. Good luck to him over the summer and lets see him progress to the Super Air. Get in! Mad as they may be, we have had some learner skiers and riders down too. Taking to the water in 3mm summer suits (crazy people) but nevertheless enjoying their time with us. TEN-80 have just installed a new 5 wire slalom/jump course and have recently mapped the new boat using the GPS navigation system. All you slalom skiers out there may or may not be pleased to hear, the tolerances are spot on with this new 'Zero Off' system so there is no more blaming the driver, or coming up with excuses like 'the sun was in my eyes' At the end of the month, there is the TEN-80 Re-launch Party to kick off the year and then we get into the normal 7 days-a-week, running from 9am til dusk! Summer is on its way, and we wish you all a pleasant and successful season. See you soon! |
