TEN-80 Wakeboard and Waterski, based at the West Midlands Waterski Centre, considers Health and Safety to be an important and essential part in creating an enjoyable and safe experience on site and therefore has drawn up the following guidelines:

TEN-80 will be using the ‘ARENA’ (lake 2) when operating, and occasionally the ‘Tournament Lake’(lake 3).  All of the following points, refer to these two lakes only.

All drivers shall be SBDA qualified or under instruction.  Under instruction is defined as having a qualified SBDA holder as crew and also having booked to take your test at a defined future date. An SBDA is only valid if membership is current to the British Waterski Federation.

All drivers must be able to demonstrate competence and experience of driving a skier or wakeboarder, and will be expected to take their SPEED BOAT DRIVER’S AWARD (SBDA) certification before using the lake.

Skiers should use and learn the British Water Ski Federation (BWSF) approved signals

There must be a minimum  of  two people in the boat at all times, when towing a skier or wakeboarder, unless the driver is a qualified BWSF instructor.

No one shall use the lake under the influence of excess drugs or alcohol.

No finned boards or skis shall be used on the jump

Boat drivers shall not allow passengers to sit or ride on the boat’s deck, side or bow whilst the boat is in motion.

Boat drivers shall keep as far away as possible, and show consideration to, any wildlife present on the lake, at time of usage.

TEN-80 will show consideration for other ski boats, using the lake as a point of access to the gas/refueling station.  A speed limit must be enforced of 3mph when approaching the refueling facilities.

TEN-80 will ensure that all rubbish is disposed of at the end of each day, within the domain of the club  boundary.

The Sliders and other Obstacles:

You must have appropriate safety wear, namely helmet and impact jacket and ask for information on safe operation before using any of the obstacles in the Arena or Premium lakes.

TEN-80 Wakeboard and Waterski, takes no responsibility for riders who choose to use the Sliders or other obstacles in the water.  Riders do so at their own risk!

First Aid:

TEN-80 will report any accident, however small, to the correct authorities.  Sufficient action will be taken to achieve an amicable and safe outcome for both TEN-80 staff and injured customers.

All TEN-80 staff will be First Aid trained and will renew any lapsed qualifications, at a suitable date.

There will be a First Aid box available to all who use the facility, accompanied by an accident reporting book.

General Safe Practices

A skier in the water must not be taken aboard without first turning off the engine of the boat.

Ropes should be pulled in immediately a skier has fallen except when there are no other boats using the Arena or Tournament Lake.

If a skier has dropped a ski and then fallen, the skier must be picked up prior to the ski.

The driver shall return the boat to the TEN-80 dock, at maximum of 3 mph.

The Slalom Course shall not be used by loaded wakeboard boats, or boats with excessive draft.

TEN-80 are responsible for any damages or breakages within the confines of the Ski Club dock and/or Arena Lake.  Sufficient action will be taken to rectify any concerns, having a direct impact on customer safety.
